The Bosch BMA222E is a digital, triaxial acceleration sensor that measures acceleration along three perpendicular axes. It features selectable acceleration ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, and ±16g, with a bandwidth adjustable from 8Hz to 1kHz. The sensor supports digital interfaces including I2C and SPI, operating within a voltage range of 1.62V to 3.6V.
Key features include an integrated FIFO buffer with a depth of 32 frames and an on-chip interrupt controller capable of motion-triggered interrupt signal generation. It also includes a temperature sensor. The BMA222E is housed in an ultra-small 12-pin LGA package with a 2mm x 2mm footprint and a height of 0.95mm, designed for surface mounting.
Typical applications for the BMA222E include display profile switching, menu scrolling, tap/double tap sensing, gaming, pedometer functionality, free-fall detection, and advanced system power management in mobile devices.
