The Bosch BMA222 is a digital, triaxial acceleration sensor designed for consumer market applications. It measures acceleration along three perpendicular axes and offers programmable functionality with selectable acceleration ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, or ±16g. The sensor supports both I2C and SPI digital interfaces, providing flexibility for system integration.
Key features include an ultra-small 12-pin LGA package with a 2mm x 2mm footprint and a height of 0.95mm, making it suitable for space-constrained designs. The operating voltage range is from 1.62V to 3.6V. The BMA222 also includes an intelligent on-chip motion-triggered interrupt controller for various motion detection events, such as new data, any-motion, tap sensing, orientation recognition, flat detection, and low-g/high-g detection. Its low power consumption and short wake-up time contribute to advanced system power management.
This sensor is ideal for applications like display profile switching, menu scrolling, gaming, pedometer functionality, free-fall detection, and e-compass tilt compensation. The surface mountable package and digital output simplify integration into various electronic systems.
