The Bosch BMA220 is a digital, triaxial accelerometer that measures acceleration along three perpendicular axes. It features a low-power ASIC and an ultra-small LGA package, making it suitable for mobile applications. The sensor supports selectable acceleration ranges from ±2g to ±16g and offers a bandwidth from 32Hz to 1kHz.
Connectivity is provided via digital interfaces including SPI (4-wire, 3-wire) and I²C, along with an interrupt pin. The device operates within a supply voltage range of 1.6V to 3.6V and has an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The BMA220 is housed in a 12-pin LGA package with a footprint of 2mm x 2mm and a height of 0.98mm.
Key features include an on-chip motion-triggered interrupt controller for functions like orientation recognition, any-motion detection, tap/double tap sensing, and low-g/high-g detection. It also supports a self-test function and stand-alone capability without requiring a microcontroller.
