The BM1050AF from ROHM Semiconductor is a versatile AC/DC converter IC that integrates both Power Factor Correction (PFC) and a Quasi-Resonant DC/DC converter. This combination is designed for harmonic solutions and low EMI operation. The IC features a built-in HV starter circuit capable of tolerating up to 650V, simplifying power supply design.
Key electrical specifications include an operating power supply voltage range of 8.5 to 24.0V and an operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C. The Quasi-Resonant part operates at a typical frequency of 120kHz, while the PFC part uses peak current control at 65kHz. Low operating currents are also noted, with a typical quiescent current of 10µA when the starter circuit is off.
The BM1050AF incorporates various protection functions such as soft start, burst mode for light load power reduction, over-current limiting, overvoltage protection, and output overload protection. The protection method can be selected between latch and auto-recovery modes. External stop and AC voltage detection pins are also provided for flexible system adaptation.
Packaged in a SOP24 surface mount package, this IC is suitable for a wide range of AC/DC power supply applications requiring efficient and low-EMI conversion.
