BK/MDA-12

The BK/MDA-12 is a cartridge ceramic fuse from Eaton - Electronics Division, designed for overcurrent protection in a variety of circuits. It is rated for a continuous current of 12A at 250VAC, with a slow-blow response characteristic that tolerates temporary inrush currents without nuisance tripping. The fuse offers a minimum breaking capacity of 750A at 250VAC, ensuring reliable interruption of high fault currents.

The fuse is housed in a standard 3AB/3AG package measuring 0.250" diameter by 1.250" length (6.35mm x 31.75mm), and requires a holder for proper mounting. Its ceramic construction provides robust thermal and mechanical performance. The melting I²t rating is 113.8 A²s, which is useful for coordinating with downstream components during short-circuit events.

This fuse carries CSA and UL approvals, confirming its suitability for North American applications. It is commonly used in industrial equipment, power supplies, and motor control circuits where reliable overcurrent protection is essential. The slow-blow characteristic makes it especially suitable for circuits with capacitive or inductive loads that draw high inrush currents at startup.
