BF959 is an NPN silicon VHF transistor from ON Semiconductor, designed for high-frequency amplification in VHF applications. The device offers a collector-emitter breakdown voltage of 20V, collector-base breakdown of 30V, and emitter-base breakdown of 3V. It supports a continuous collector current of 100mA and provides a current-gain bandwidth product of 700MHz at 20mA and 10V, making it suitable for RF and VHF circuits.
The transistor is housed in a TO-92 through-hole package, with a supplier device package designation of TO-92 (TO-226). It dissipates up to 625mW at 25°C ambient temperature and 1.5W at case temperature, with derating factors of 5.0mW/°C and 12mW/°C above 25°C respectively. Thermal resistance is specified at 200°C/W junction-to-ambient and 83.3°C/W junction-to-case.
Operating temperature range spans -55°C to 150°C, and the device is available in Pb-free versions (suffix G) as well as standard leaded versions. Shipping options include 5000 units per box, 2000 units per tape and reel, or 2000 units per ammo pack.
This transistor is appropriate for VHF amplifier stages, RF front-end circuits, and low-noise applications, with a typical noise figure of 3dB at 200MHz.
