The BDX53B is an NPN Darlington transistor manufactured by STMicroelectronics. It is designed for general-purpose switching and amplification applications requiring high current gain. The Darlington configuration provides a DC current gain (hFE) of minimum 750 at 3A collector current and 3V collector-emitter voltage.
Key electrical characteristics include a collector-emitter breakdown voltage (V(BR)CEO) of 80V minimum, a maximum collector current of 8A, and a maximum power dissipation of 60W. The collector-emitter saturation voltage (VCE(sat)) is typically 2V maximum at a base current of 12mA and collector current of 3A.
The transistor is housed in a standard TO-220-3 package with through-hole mounting, suitable for heatsinking in power applications. The operating junction temperature range extends up to 150°C.
