The BD138 is a PNP epitaxial silicon transistor designed for general purpose amplification and switching. It is the complementary device to the NPN BD137 transistor.
Key electrical specifications include a maximum collector-emitter voltage (VCEO) of -60V, continuous collector current of -1.5A, and a DC current gain (hFE) ranging from 63 to 250 at IC=-150mA, VCE=-2V. The collector-emitter saturation voltage is typically -0.5V at IC=-500mA, IB=-50mA.
The device is packaged in a TO-126 through-hole package with three leads. Thermal characteristics show a power dissipation of 1.25W at 25°C ambient and 12.5W at case temperature 25°C. The junction temperature range is -55°C to 150°C.
