The Broadcom BCM5387KFBG is a 5-port Gigabit Ethernet switch IC designed for SOHO and subnetwork applications. It integrates five MACs with support for 9KB jumbo frames and five SGMII/SerDes interfaces. The switch features a non-blocking 6-Gigabit Ethernet switch fabric and a 128KB packet buffer memory. It supports up to 4000 unicast MAC addresses, VLAN (802.1Q and port-based), QoS with 4 priority queues (802.1p/DiffServ), and full-duplex (802.3x) or half-duplex flow control. The device also supports Spanning Tree Protocol (STP and RSTP).
Powered by a low-power 0.13 µm CMOS core with 1.2V supply, the BCM5387KFBG dissipates less than 1.5W, enabling fanless operation. It is controlled via an SPI interface for easy setup and managed operation. The switch is suitable for both unmanaged plug-and-play and fully managed applications, with support for automatic address learning and aging, port aggregation, and port-based rate control with 64 kbps granularity.
The BCM5387KFBG is housed in a 256-pin FBGA package (17mm x 17mm) and is surface-mount compatible. It is RoHS3 compliant with MSL 1 (unlimited) and REACH unaffected.
