The BC546B is a general purpose NPN bipolar junction transistor designed for signal processing, switching, and amplification applications. It is rated for a collector-emitter voltage (VCEO) of 65V, a collector current (IC) of 100mA DC (200mA peak), and a power dissipation of 500mW. The transistor offers a DC current gain (hFE) of 200 to 450 at 2mA collector current and 5V VCE, classified as gain group B. With a transition frequency of 300MHz, it is suitable for low to medium frequency circuits.
The BC546B is housed in a TO-92 through-hole package (TO-226-3, TO-92-3) with a lead spacing of 2.54mm. It is available in ammo pack packaging. The operating junction temperature range is -55°C to 150°C, and the storage temperature range is identical. The device is RoHS compliant without exemptions, REACH compliant, and does not use conflict minerals. The case material is UL 94V-0 rated, and solder and assembly conditions are 260°C for 10 seconds.
This transistor is recommended for commercial and industrial grade circuits. Complementary PNP transistors are available in the BC556 to BC559 series. The BC546B is part of a family that includes BC546A and BC546C variants with different current gain groups.
