The BB181 is a VHF variable capacitance diode fabricated in planar technology and encapsulated in an ultra small plastic SMD package (SOD523/SC-79). It offers excellent linearity for electronic tuning applications. Key electrical specifications include a maximum continuous reverse voltage of 30V, maximum continuous forward current of 20mA, and a reverse current of 10nA at 30V (200nA at 85°C). The diode capacitance ranges from 8.1 to 17pF at 0.5V to 0.7 to 1.055pF at 28V, providing a capacitance ratio of 12 to 16. Series resistance is 3Ω maximum at 470MHz. The device operates over a junction temperature range of -55 to +150°C and is suitable for surface mount assembly. Typical applications include electronic tuning in satellite tuners, tuneable coupling, and voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs). The part is marked with code N and the cathode side is indicated by a bar.
