The B72220T2131K101 is a housed metal oxide varistor from TDK Electronics, part of the SIOV AdvanceD series with integrated thermal protection. It features a varistor voltage of 205V typical (184.5V min, 225.5V max at 1mA) and can absorb up to 100J of energy (2ms pulse). The device is rated for a maximum AC voltage of 130V RMS and a DC voltage of 170V. It offers a peak surge current capability of 10kA (8/20µs waveform) with a clamping voltage of 340V maximum at 100A. Response time is less than 25ns. The varistor is housed in a flame-retardant epoxy resin coating and a thermoplastic housing, both meeting UL 94 V-0 standards. Terminals are tinned copper wire.
Electrical characteristics include a typical capacitance of 1340pF at 1kHz and a power rating of 1.0W at 85°C. The component is climate category 40/85/56 per IEC 60068-1 and has an electric strength of ≥2.5 kVRMS. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C, with storage from -40°C to +125°C.
The device is designed for through-hole mounting in a radial box package with 3 leads. It is delivered in bulk (standard). Typical applications include overvoltage protection in air conditioners, refrigerators, TVs, power meters, inverters, telecom equipment, and transient voltage surge suppressors (TVSS). The thermally protected construction ensures safe operation under abnormal overvoltage conditions.
The maximum clamping voltage is 340V at 100A test current.
The surge current rating is 10kA for an 8/20µs waveform.
The varistor is in a Radial, Box - 3 Lead package with through-hole mounting.
The varistor voltage at 1mA is 184.5V minimum, 205V typical, and 225.5V maximum.
The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C.
The maximum AC voltage (RMS) is 130V.
The energy absorption rating is 100J for a 2ms pulse.
