ATSAM4LC8BA-MU Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The Atmel SAM4L series, including the ATSAM4LC8BA-MU, is based on the high-performance 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 RISC processor running at frequencies up to 48MHz. This series embeds state-of-the-art picoPower technology for ultra-low power consumption, with active current consumption down to 90 μA/MHz. The device offers a wide range of options between functionality and power consumption, allowing users to achieve the lowest possible power consumption with the required feature set.

Key features include a Memory Protection Unit (MPU) and Thumb-2 instruction set. The microcontroller supports various low-power modes, such as WAIT mode with fast wake-up capability (<1.5 μs) and very low consumption (3 μA), and RETENTION mode (1.5 μA). BACKUP mode powers off the CPU, peripherals, and RAM, consuming less than 0.9μA with external interrupt wake-up support.

The SAM4L series offers a variety of peripherals, including a segment LCD controller, embedded hardware capacitive touch (QTouch), USB device & embedded host, 128-bit AES, and audio interfaces. It also includes high-speed serial peripherals like USART, SPI, and I2C. The Peripheral Event System and SleepWalking features enable peripherals to communicate directly and make intelligent decisions, such as waking up the system on qualified events like an I2C address match or an ADC threshold.

This microcontroller family provides embedded Flash memory from 128 to 512 Kbytes and embedded SRAM up to 64 Kbytes. It supports up to 16 peripheral DMA (PDCA) channels. The ATSAM4LC8BA-MU is supplied in the MU package.
