The ATMEGA8L-8PU is an 8-bit AVR microcontroller based on the advanced RISC architecture. It features 8KB of in-system self-programmable Flash memory, 1KB internal SRAM, and 512B EEPROM with high endurance (10,000 Flash write/erase cycles and 100,000 EEPROM cycles). The device operates at a maximum speed of 8MHz with a supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V.
Peripheral features include 23 programmable I/O lines, a 6-channel 10-bit ADC (in PDIP package), three PWM channels, two 8-bit and one 16-bit timer/counter, and serial interfaces for I2C, SPI, and UART/USART communication. Additional on-chip peripherals include a brown-out detect/reset, power-on reset, programmable watchdog timer, and an internal calibrated RC oscillator.
The microcontroller is housed in a 28-pin PDIP package (0.300" width, 7.62mm pitch) for through-hole mounting. It is specified for an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Power consumption is typically 3.6mA in active mode, 1.0mA in idle mode, and 0.5µA in power-down mode at 4MHz and 3V.
