The ATMEGA8L-8AU is an 8-bit AVR microcontroller from Microchip Technology, part of the ATmega8 family. It features 8KB of in-system self-programmable Flash memory, 1KB SRAM, and 512B EEPROM with high endurance (10,000 Flash/100,000 EEPROM write/erase cycles) and data retention of 20 years at 85°C.
The device operates at a maximum speed of 8MHz and a supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V. It includes 23 programmable I/O lines, three PWM channels, an 8-channel 10-bit ADC, and serial interfaces (I²C, SPI, UART/USART). Peripherals include brown-out detection, power-on reset, watchdog timer, and internal oscillator.
Power consumption at 4MHz and 3V is typical: active 3.6mA, idle 1.0mA, and power-down 0.5µA, making it suitable for low-power applications. The microcontroller supports five sleep modes.
The ATMEGA8L-8AU is supplied in a 32-lead TQFP package (7x7mm) with surface mount mounting. It is RoHS3 Compliant (unverified) and has MSL Level 1 (unverified). The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C.
