The ATMEGA2561-16AI is an 8-bit AVR microcontroller from Microchip Technology, designed for embedded control applications. It features a high-performance AVR core running at up to 16 MHz, with 256KB of Flash program memory, 8KB of SRAM, and 4KB of EEPROM. The device includes 54 general-purpose I/O lines, an 8-channel 10-bit ADC, and peripherals such as brown-out detection, power-on reset, PWM, and watchdog timer. Connectivity is supported via EBI/EMI, I2C, SPI, and UART/USART interfaces.
The microcontroller operates from a 4.5V to 5.5V supply and is rated for an industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. It is housed in a 64-TQFP (14x14mm) surface-mount package, suitable for space-constrained designs. The internal oscillator eliminates the need for external clock components in many applications.
Typical applications include industrial control, automation, automotive systems, and embedded networking. The large memory and rich peripheral set make it suitable for complex firmware implementations requiring multiple communication protocols and real-time control.
