ATAES132A-MAHEQ-T

The Microchip Technology ATAES132A-MAHEQ-T is a high-security, Serial Electrically-Erasable and Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) offering both authentication and confidential nonvolatile data storage. It provides 32Kb of standard EEPROM memory, compatible with Atmel AT24C32D and AT25320B, divided into 16 user zones of 2Kb each.

Key security features include a 128-bit AES algorithm with AES-CCM for authentication, Message Authentication Code (MAC) capability, and secure storage for up to sixteen 128-bit keys. The device supports encrypted user memory read and write operations and includes an internal FIPS Random Number Generator (RNG). User zone access rights are independently configurable, allowing for read/write, encrypted, or read-only options, with authentication required prior to zone access.

Connectivity is provided via a high-speed 10MHz SPI interface (Mode 0 and 3) and a 1MHz standard I2C interface. The device operates within a 2.5V to 5.5V supply voltage range and consumes less than 250nA in sleep mode. It is available in an 8-pad UDFN package and operates across a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

This component is designed to easily add security by replacing existing serial EEPROMs. It is suitable for authenticating consumables, components, and network access, protecting sensitive firmware, securely storing sensitive data, preventing contract manufacturers from overbuilding, managing warranty claims, and securely storing identity data.
