The AT73C240 from Microchip Technology is a fully integrated, low-cost stereo audio Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) and audio power amplifier circuit. It is specifically targeted for Li-Ion or Ni-Mh battery-powered devices such as mobile phones, smartphones, PDAs, DECT phones, digital still cameras, and music players.
The stereo DAC section offers a high-performance, 20-bit resolution with a 90 dB dynamic range. It supports various sampling rates from 8 kHz up to 48 kHz and includes drivers for stereo 32 Ohm headsets. The device also features a mono audio power amplifier capable of delivering 440 mW into an 8 Ohm load, with programmable volume control.
