AT5400 Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The TEKELEC AT5400 TollTag is a full-frame, 915MHz, beam-powered radio frequency identification (RFID) tag. It is ideal for automatic vehicle identification (AVI) applications, including electronic toll collection and transportation management.

Packaged in a slim, impact-resistant molded plastic case, the AT5400 is designed for mounting on a vehicle's interior windshield. It operates in the 902 to 928 MHz frequency range with a typical working range of 1.5 to 9.1 meters (5 to 30 ft.). The tag supports Super eGo (SeGo), eGo, and ATA protocols, with read/write capability in SeGo mode. Data memory includes 2,048 bits for SeGo and eGo modes, and 120 bits for ATA mode, with user memory programmable via RF link.

The AT5400 is beam-powered, requiring no internal battery, which provides an extended service life of over 10 years. This power source also limits the tag's range, reducing the possibility of cross-lane reads. The tag stores up to 20 six-bit alphanumeric characters of customer data (120 bits ATA tag memory).

Security features are included when used with TransCore readers, preventing data corruption, alteration, and tag cloning. The AT5400 supports factory-locked data fields for Tag ID, customer, and user information, as well as open data fields that can be written by the agency. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C.
