The ams AG AS39230 is an active load modulation boosted NFC analog front end IC. It is designed to significantly enhance NFC performance in challenging environments such as mobile devices and wearables.

 

This IC replaces the analog front end of existing NFC controllers, enabling flexible and cost-effective designs. It operates with antenna sizes up to 20 times smaller than competing solutions and can function with metal casing as a resonant antenna. The AS39230 supports ISO14443 type A/B and FeliCa standards at data rates up to 424kb/s. It also supports active peer-to-peer bit rates of 212kb/s and 424kb/s according to ISO18092.

 

Key benefits include EMVCo and ISO compliance with antennas as small as 100mm², considerable reduction in antenna cost, and best-in-class interoperability. The AS39230 offers automatic output power adjustment and a digital interface to standard NFC controllers or connectivity combo ICs.
