The Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 (APQ8084) is a high-performance ARM-based System on Chip (SoC) designed for Android tablets and smartphones. Announced in November 2013, it succeeded the Snapdragon 801 as Qualcomm's top-tier ARM SoC.
This SoC integrates a quad-core Krait 450 CPU clocked at up to 2.7 GHz, offering performance comparable to other high-end ARM SoCs of 2014. It also features the Adreno 420 GPU, which supports DirectX 11.1 and provides up to a 40 percent performance increase over its predecessor, the Adreno 330. The Adreno 420 typically operates at 600 MHz.
Key features include a 128-bit LPDDR3-1600 memory controller with a bandwidth of 25.6 GB/s, support for Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, and Bluetooth 4.1. The Snapdragon 805 is manufactured using a 28nm HPM process. It also supports 4K video decoding with the H.265 codec and features an advanced camera Image Signal Processor (ISP).
Note that the Snapdragon 805 does not include an integrated cellular modem; additional modules like the Gobi MDM9x25 or MDM9x35 are required for UMTS and LTE connectivity. The power consumption is estimated to be between 3-5W.
