The Sensata APL/UPL series APL211-5055-3 is a hydraulic magnetic circuit breaker designed for reliable power switching, circuit protection, and control. This model features a lever actuator for manual operation, similar to an ON-OFF switch. Upon detecting an overload, the internal mechanism trips, opening the contacts and forcibly returning the handle to the OFF position. The "trip free" design ensures the internal contacts will not remain closed during an overload, even if the handle is held in the ON position.
This circuit protector is suitable for industrial, military, and information processing applications where precision operation is required. It is recognized by UL per UL STD. 1077 as a supplementary protector and certified by CSA per CSA STD. C22.2–No. 235. The APL/UPL line offers various configurations, including series, shunt, and relay types, with a choice of delays and ratings. Multi-pole assemblies are also available, allowing for mixed current ratings, delays, and internal circuit configurations.
The APL211-5055-3 is designed for panel mounting. It is important to note that the APL/UPL series is a legacy product, and no new design-in orders are being accepted. Sensata Technologies recommends utilizing the Airpax™ IAL series for new designs.
