APA1000-PQ208M

The Actel ProASIC PLUS family, including the APA1000-PQ208M, represents Actel's second-generation flash FPGAs, providing enhanced performance over the original ProASIC series. These devices combine the advantages of ASICs with the flexibility of programmable devices through nonvolatile flash technology. This enables engineers to create high-density systems using existing ASIC or FPGA design flows and tools.

The ProASIC PLUS family offers a unique clock conditioning circuit with two on-board phase-locked loops (PLLs). The family supports up to one million system gates, with up to 198 kbits of two-port SRAM and up to 712 user I/Os, all capable of delivering 50 MHz PCI performance. Advantages extend beyond raw performance; unlike SRAM-based FPGAs, four levels of routing hierarchy simplify routing. The use of flash technology ensures all functionality is live at power-up, eliminating the need for external boot PROMs for device programming. Reprogramming can be performed in-system for future design iterations and field upgrades.

The architecture of these FPGAs mitigates the complexity of ASIC migration at higher user volumes, making the ProASIC PLUS family a cost-effective solution for applications in the networking, communications, computing, and avionics markets.
