The DIODES™ AP3983B/C/D series, including the AP3983BMTR-G1, are high-frequency power switchers for off-line switch-mode power supplies (SMPS). They provide improved conversion efficiency, voltage and current accuracy, and enhanced protection functions.
This device regulates output voltage and current on the primary side using piece-wise Pulse Frequency Modulation (p-PFM) in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). It features built-in N-channel MOSFET with 650V BVDSS, low start-up current of 0.2µA (Typ.), and operates at 65kHz. The AP3983BMTR-G1 supports an output power range of up to 6W for adapters.
Designed for primary side control, it eliminates the need for an opto-coupler. The AP3983BMTR-G1 includes built-in fixed cable voltage drop compensation and adjustable line voltage compensation. It offers better transient characteristics, hiccup function for short circuit protection, over-voltage protection, and over-temperature protection.
The AP3983BMTR-G1 is packaged in a 7-SO (SO-7) surface-mount package. Typical applications include chargers, adapters for ADSL, home appliance power supplies, LED lighting power supplies, and PC auxiliary power supplies.
