The AM685/BEA is a general purpose comparator from Advanced Micro Devices. It features a single element with an open-emitter, ECL output type. The device offers a maximum propagation delay of 6.5ns, typical common mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 80dB, and typical power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) of 60dB. Input offset voltage is 2mV, and supply current is 26mA.
The comparator operates over a wide temperature range of -55°C to 125°C, making it suitable for harsh environments. It is designed for through-hole mounting in a 16-pin CDIP package (0.300", 7.62mm). The open-emitter ECL output allows for direct interfacing with emitter-coupled logic families.
Typical applications include high-speed signal comparison, threshold detection, and level shifting in ECL-based systems. The device's fast propagation delay and high CMRR enable precise and reliable operation in demanding analog and digital circuits.
