The AM3341PC by Advanced Micro Devices is an asynchronous first-in, first-out (FIFO) memory stack. It is organized as 64 four-bit words, capable of accepting parallel data inputs.
This FIFO memory features a guaranteed data rate of 1 MHz for the Am2841 variant and 1.2 MHz for the Am2841A variant. It can store up to 64 words before any data is read, with data rippling through to the outputs in the order it was written. The device includes input ready (IR) and output ready (OR) signals that function as memory full and empty flags, respectively, facilitating the interconnection of multiple FIFOs for deeper buffer configurations.
Designed for TTL compatibility, the AM3341PC incorporates special input circuitry that pulls input signals up to MOS VIH levels when a TTL VOH is reached, eliminating the need for external pull-up resistors. Reading and writing operations are independent, making it suitable as a buffer between asynchronous digital systems operating at different clock rates. The device is available in a DIP package for through-hole mounting.
