The DIODES™ AL8808 is a step-down DC/DC converter designed to drive LEDs with a constant current. It can drive up to 8 LEDs in series from a 6V to 30V voltage source, ensuring uniform brightness without ballast resistors. The device switches at frequencies up to 1MHz, utilizing controlled rise and fall times to minimize EMI and allow for small external components.
Key features include an output current of up to 1A, better than 5% accuracy, and high efficiency up to 96%. Dimming is supported via analog DC voltage or PWM signals at the CTRL input. The AL8808 includes built-in output open-circuit and over-temperature protection.
This LED driver is available in a TSOT-25 package, suitable for surface mounting. It is designed for applications such as MR16 lamps and general illumination lamps, where efficient and reliable LED driving is required.
