The AL5812MP-13 from Diodes Incorporated is an adjustable linear LED driver that offers excellent temperature stability and output handling capabilities. It simplifies the design of LED drivers by allowing the LED current to be set with standard resistors. The device features a low reference voltage of 0.5V on the RSET pin, which is outside the LED current path, minimizing power dissipation compared to traditional linear drivers.
This LED driver is ideal for applications requiring up to 150mA of current, commonly referred to as ½W LEDs. Its open-drain output can swing from 1V up to 60V, enabling it to drive long LED chains. Longer chains can be driven by tapping VCC from the chain, where the chain voltage may exceed 60V. The AL5812MP-13 has an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and an LED current tolerance of ±3%.
The AL5812MP-13 is available in the 8-MSOP-EP package and is suitable for surface mount applications. It supports PWM dimming functionality. The device is designed for applications such as isolated offline LED converters, linear LED drivers, LED signs, and instrumentation illumination.
