The AL5802-7 from Diodes Incorporated is a linear mode current sink LED driver. It integrates a high-gain NPN transistor with a pre-biased NPN transistor in a compact SOT-26 package, making it suitable for small footprint designs.
The device features an open-collector output that can operate from 0.8V to 30V, compatible with standard 5V to 24V power supplies. The LED current is set by an external resistor connected to the REXT pin, with an internal high-gain transistor developing approximately 0.6V across this resistor. The AL5802-7 is ideal for driving LED currents from 20mA to 120mA.
PWM dimming of the LED current can be achieved by driving the BIAS or EN pins. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +125°C. The device is RoHS 3 compliant, Halogen- and Antimony-free, and qualified to JEDEC standards for high reliability.
Applications include LED signs and offline LED luminaries. The surface mount SOT-26 package (also referred to as SOT-23-6) is suitable for automated assembly processes.
