The AK8859VQ is a single-chip digital video decoder from Asahi Kasei Microdevices. It is designed to decode composite and S-video signals in NTSC, PAL, and SECAM formats. The device includes two 10-bit 27MHz ADCs and provides digital output in YCbCr 4:2:2 format compliant with ITU-R BT.601 and ITU-R BT.656 standards. Output also includes HD, VD, FIELD, and DVALID timing signals. The decoder supports automatic input signal detection, adaptive 2-D Y/C separation, and various image adjustments including contrast, saturation, brightness, hue, and sharpness. It can decode closed caption, VBID (CGMS-A), and WSS signals, and detect Macrovision protection. The device operates with a core supply voltage of 1.7V to 2.0V and an I/O supply of 1.7V to 3.6V. It is specified for an operating temperature range of -40°C to 105°C. The AK8859VQ is available in a 48-pin LQFP package measuring 7.0mm x 7.0mm, suitable for surface mount assembly.
