The AFE1103E is a complete analog front end (AFE) from Texas Instruments (formerly Burr-Brown) designed for HDSL and MDSL systems. It integrates all active analog circuitry needed to interface with a digital signal processor such as the Brooktree Bt8952.
It features a 14-bit resolution, single channel, with programmable gain options of 0 dB, 3.25 dB, 6 dB, and 9 dB. The device operates from a single +5V supply and has a typical power dissipation of 250 mW. The input voltage range is ±3.0 V balanced differential, and the output data rate ranges from 98 to 584 kHz.
The AFE1103E includes a transmit section with a line driver and pulse former, and a receive section with a delta-sigma modulator and decimation filter. It supports T1, E1, and MDSL operation with clock-scalable speed. The device is second sourced by Brooktree's Bt8921.
The device is available in a surface-mount 48-pin SSOP package (48-BSSOP, 0.295" width) and operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
