The ADXL363BCCZ-RL7 from Analog Devices is a highly integrated, ultralow power 3-axis MEMS accelerometer. It also includes a temperature sensor and a provision for a third analog sensor input, with all sensors sampled synchronously. This device is designed for applications requiring minimal power consumption, operating at just 1.95 µA at a 100 Hz output data rate with a 2.0 V supply.
Key features include selectable acceleration measurement ranges of ±2g, ±4g, and ±8g, with a resolution down to 1 mg/LSB on the ±2g range. The temperature sensor provides a scale factor of 0.065°C/LSB. The ADXL363 communicates via a serial port interface (SPI) and provides 12-bit output resolution for all sensors. It includes built-in features for motion-based system level power savings, such as adjustable threshold sleep/wake modes and autonomous interrupt processing.
The accelerometer is housed in a compact 3 mm × 3.25 mm × 1.06 mm package, suitable for surface mounting. Its wide supply and I/O voltage range of 1.6 V to 3.5 V makes it versatile for various power sources, including coin cell batteries. The device also features a 512-sample FIFO buffer to minimize host processor load.
Applications for the ADXL363BCCZ-RL7 include home healthcare devices, wireless sensors, and motion-enabled metering devices where low power and accurate motion detection are critical.
