The ADXL346ACCZ-RL7 from Analog Devices is a compact, ultralow power, 3-axis digital accelerometer with high resolution measurement capabilities up to ±16 g. It provides digital output data in 16-bit twos complement format, accessible via either a 3- or 4-wire SPI or an I2C digital interface.
This accelerometer supports selectable measurement ranges of ±2 g, ±4 g, ±8 g, and ±16 g, with bandwidth adjustable from 0.05 Hz to 1.6 kHz. It operates within a supply voltage range of 1.7 V to 2.75 V and features ultralow power consumption, as low as 23 μA in measurement mode and 0.2 μA in standby mode.
Key features include embedded FIFO technology to minimize host processor load, single/double tap detection, activity/inactivity monitoring, free-fall detection, and orientation detection. The device is housed in a small 3 mm × 3 mm × 0.95 mm LGA package, suitable for surface mounting.
Applications for the ADXL346ACCZ-RL7 include handsets, medical instrumentation, gaming and pointing devices, industrial instrumentation, personal navigation devices, and hard disk drive protection.
