ADUM1401CRWZ-RL

The ADUM1401CRWZ-RL is a quad-channel digital isolator from Analog Devices, Inc., built on their iCoupler® technology. This component integrates high-speed CMOS and monolithic air core transformer technology to provide superior performance compared to traditional optocoupler devices. It eliminates the design challenges associated with optocouplers, such as uncertain current transfer ratios and temperature-dependent performance.

Key features include a high data rate of up to 90 Mbps (NRZ), precise timing characteristics with a maximum pulse width distortion of 2 ns and channel-to-channel matching of 2 ns, and high common-mode transient immunity of over 25 kV/µs. The isolator supports bidirectional communication and 3 V/5 V level translation across the isolation barrier. It is qualified for automotive applications and operates at high temperatures up to 125°C.

The device is supplied in a 16-lead SOIC wide body package, suitable for surface mount applications. It offers safety and regulatory approvals including UL recognition at 2500 V rms and VDE certification. The ADuM1401CRWZ-RL is designed for general-purpose multichannel isolation, SPI interface isolation, data converter isolation, and industrial field bus applications.

Power consumption is low, with maximum current draw ranging from 0.7 mA/channel at 3V (0-2 Mbps) to 31 mA/channel at 5V (90 Mbps). The isolators operate with supply voltages from 2.7 V to 5.5 V, ensuring compatibility with lower voltage systems and enabling voltage translation.
