The ADT7490ARQZ by AD is a versatile thermal monitor and fan controller designed for noise-sensitive and power-sensitive applications requiring active system cooling. This integrated circuit includes one local on-chip temperature sensor and two remote temperature sensors, with support for an additional three external sensors featuring series resistance cancellation.
The device offers robust fan control capabilities, providing three high or low frequency PWM outputs compatible with 3-wire or 4-wire fans. It also includes four TACH inputs for measuring fan speed. The automatic fan speed control loop optimizes fan speed based on thermal information, ensuring efficient and quiet operation. The ADT7490ARQZ can monitor CPU temperature via a PECI interface and supports up to four PECI inputs on a single pin.
Additional features include bidirectional THERM/SMBALERT pin functionality for out-of-limit and overtemperature conditions, GPIO functionality for extra features like loadline setting or LED control, and IMON monitoring for CPU current and power information. The ADT7490ARQZ is footprint and register compatible with the ADT7473/ADT7475/ADT7476/ADT7476A family of fan controllers.
