The ADT7460ARQZ-REEL from On Semiconductor is a dBCOOL controller designed for noise-sensitive applications requiring active system cooling. This thermal monitor and multiple PWM fan controller can monitor up to three temperature sensors: one on-chip and two remote. It supports control and monitoring of up to four fans, operating them at the lowest possible speed to minimize acoustic noise.
The device features dynamic TMIN control, automatic fan speed control based on measured temperature, and an enhanced acoustic mode to reduce perceived fan noise. It includes thermal protection via a THERM output and can monitor performance impact through a THERM input, compatible with Intel Pentium 4 Processor thermal control circuits. The ADT7460ARQZ-REEL meets SMBus 2.0 electrical specifications and is fully SMBus 1.1-compliant.
Packaged in a 16-QSOP and a 16-SSOP (0.154", 3.90mm Width), this IC is designed for surface mount applications.
