The ADS8863IDGSR is a high-performance, 16-bit, 680-kSPS successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Texas Instruments. It features a true-differential input with a wide common-mode voltage range from 0 V to VREF, achieving a minimum common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 90 dB. The device offers excellent AC performance with a typical signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 96.5 dB and total harmonic distortion (THD) of -115 dB.
This ADC operates from a 2.7 V to 3.6 V analog supply and a separate 1.65 V to 3.6 V digital supply, allowing for flexible interfacing with low-voltage logic. The external reference can range from 2.5 V to 5 V, independent of the analog supply. Typical power consumption is only 4.2 mW at full 680 kSPS throughput, scaling down to 60 µW at 10 kSPS.
The device is available in a compact 10-pin VSSOP package (10-VSSOP) and is specified for operation over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It communicates via an SPI-compatible serial interface that supports a daisy-chain configuration for multiple ADCs on a single bus.
