The ADS8862IDRCR is a 16-bit, 680-kSPS, successive-approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter from Texas Instruments. It features a single-ended unipolar input range of 0 V to +VREF, supporting an external reference voltage from 2.5 V to 5 V. The device communicates via an SPI-compatible serial interface with daisy-chain capability.
Key electrical performance includes a signal-to-noise ratio of 93 dB and a total harmonic distortion of -108 dB. Integral nonlinearity is ±1.0 LSB typical ( ±2.0 LSB maximum), and differential nonlinearity is ±1.0 LSB maximum, ensuring 16-bit no-missing-code performance. Power consumption scales with sample rate: 4.2 mW at 680 kSPS, 0.6 mW at 100 kSPS, and 60 µW at 10 kSPS, with a shutdown current of only 50 nA.
The ADC operates from a 2.7 V to 3.6 V analog supply and a separate 1.65 V to 3.6 V digital supply, allowing independent digital interface voltage levels. Full-scale step settling to 16 bits is achieved in 540 ns. The device is available in a compact 10-VSON (3 mm × 3 mm) package for surface-mount assembly, rated for -40°C to +85°C operation.
