ADS8860IDGS Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The ADS8860IDGS is a 16-bit, 1-MSPS SAR ADC from Texas Instruments. It offers a single-ended input range from 0 to VREF, with an external reference voltage from 2.5V to 5V. The device achieves excellent AC performance with 93 dB SNR and -108 dB THD. DC linearity is ±1.0 LSB typical INL and ±1.0 LSB maximum DNL with no missing codes at 16 bits.

The ADC operates from separate analog (2.7V to 3.6V) and digital (1.65V to 3.6V) supplies, allowing independent voltage domains. Power dissipation scales with sampling rate: 5.5 mW at 1 MSPS, 0.55 mW at 100 kSPS, and 55 µW at 10 kSPS. The SPI-compatible serial interface supports daisy-chain operation for multiple devices.

The ADS8860IDGS is housed in a 10-pin VSSOP package (also known as MSOP-10) and is rated for -40°C to +85°C operation. It is suitable for battery-powered systems, portable instrumentation, and industrial control applications requiring high resolution and low power.
