The ADS8681IPWR is a 16-bit successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Texas Instruments. It operates at a maximum sample rate of 1 MSPS and features a single-ended input with programmable bipolar input ranges including ±12.288 V, ±10.24 V, ±6.144 V, ±5.12 V, and ±2.56 V, as well as unipolar ranges. The device integrates a programmable gain amplifier (PGA), an internal 4.096 V reference, and input overvoltage protection up to ±20 V.
Key electrical specifications include a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 90.5 dB, total harmonic distortion (THD) of -107 dB, and integral nonlinearity (INL) of ±0.5 LSB. The ADC operates from a 5 V analog supply and a 1.65 V to 5.25 V digital I/O supply, with typical power consumption of 42 mW. The interface is enhanced SPI with daisy-chain capability.
The device is housed in a 16-pin TSSOP package (5 mm × 6.4 mm) and is rated for surface mount assembly. It is suitable for industrial applications requiring high precision and wide input voltage ranges, such as data acquisition systems, process control, and test equipment. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +125°C.
