The ADS8519IDB is a complete 16-bit sampling analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Texas Instruments. It uses a successive approximation register (SAR) architecture and a sample-and-hold input to achieve a throughput of 250kSPS. The device accepts a single-ended input signal and supports input ranges of 0V to 8.192V, ±5V, or ±10V, making it suitable for a variety of industrial and instrumentation applications.
The converter delivers a typical signal-to-noise ratio of 93dB with a 20kHz input. Integral nonlinearity is guaranteed to ±1.5LSB maximum, and differential nonlinearity to ±1LSB maximum, with no missing codes at 16-bit resolution. Typical power dissipation is 155mW, dropping to 110mW at 250kSPS operation.
Data output is provided through an SPI-compatible serial interface that includes a daisy-chain (TAG) feature and a 3-state bus. The ADS8519IDB operates with either an internal 4.096V reference or an external reference, and it requires no external precision resistors. The analog supply ranges from 4.75V to 5.25V, while the digital I/O supply spans 1.65V to 5.25V to accommodate different logic levels.
The ADC is specified for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and is supplied in a 28-pin SSOP package with 0.209-inch (5.30mm) width for surface-mount assembly. Its pinout is similar to the 16-bit ADS7809 and the 12-bit ADS7808/ADS8508, simplifying migration in existing designs.
