ADS8517IBDW is a low-power, 16-bit successive-approximation (SAR) analog-to-digital converter from Texas Instruments. It samples at up to 200 kSPS with a single-ended bipolar input range of ±10 V. The device supports both SPI and parallel data interfaces, and can operate with an internal 2.5 V reference or an external reference. No external precision resistors are required for operation.
Key electrical specifications include 89 dB SNR, ±1.5 LSB maximum INL, and +1.5/-1 LSB maximum/minimum DNL. Analog supply voltage ranges from 4.5 V to 5.5 V, while the digital interface supply operates from 1.65 V to 5.25 V. Typical power consumption is 47 mW, with a maximum of 60 mW, at 200 kSPS. A 50 µW power-down mode is also indicated by the manufacturer.
The ADC is available in a 28-SOIC surface-mount package and is rated for operation from -40°C to 85°C. The manufacturer lists typical applications including portable test equipment, USB data acquisition modules, medical equipment, industrial process control, digital signal processing, and instrumentation.
