ADS8505IDWR Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The ADS8505IDWR is a 16-bit successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter from Texas Instruments. It samples at up to 250 kSPS with a single-ended ±10 V input range. The converter includes an internal reference and clock, and can also operate with an external reference. It provides a full parallel data output interface for direct connection to microprocessors and DSPs.

The device is intended for industrial process control, data acquisition systems, digital signal processing, medical equipment, and instrumentation. Typical dynamic performance includes an SNR of 88 dB and SFDR of 105 dB at a 250-kHz sample rate. DC accuracy is specified with ±1.5 LSB max INL and ±1 LSB max DNL with no missing codes. Bipolar zero error is ±2 mV and full-scale error is ±0.1% FSR.

The ADC operates from analog and digital supplies of 4.75 V to 5.25 V (nominal 5 V) and is rated for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. It is available in a 28-pin SOIC package (0.295" width) and is surface mountable.
