The ADS8320E/250 from Texas Instruments is a 16-bit, high-speed, micropower sampling Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). It ensures specifications over a 2.7V to 5.25V supply range and requires very little power, even at its full 100 kHz data rate. At lower data rates, it can spend most of its time in power-down mode, with average power dissipation less than 100 mW at 10 kHz.
Key features include a 100 kHz sampling rate, low power consumption (1.8 mW at 100 kHz and 2.7 V), and a maximum power-down current of 3 µA. The device utilizes a synchronous serial (SPI/SSI compatible) interface and has a differential input. The reference voltage can be set anywhere between 500 mV and VCC.
Available in an 8-pin VSSOP package, the ADS8320E/250 is ideal for portable and battery-operated systems due to its ultra-low power and small size. It is also suitable for remote data acquisition modules, simultaneous multi-channel systems, and isolated data acquisition applications. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C.
