ADS804E

The ADS804E is a high-speed, 12-bit, pipelined analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Texas Instruments, designed for demanding applications requiring high dynamic range and low power consumption. It operates at a maximum sampling rate of 10 MSPS and provides a resolution of 12 bits. The converter includes a high-bandwidth track-and-hold circuit with an analog input bandwidth of 270 MHz, enabling excellent spurious performance up to and beyond the Nyquist rate.

The ADS804E offers a programmable input voltage range of 2 Vp-p or 5 Vp-p, which can be set using the internal reference or an external reference. It achieves a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 69 dB, an effective number of bits (ENOB) of 11 bits, and a spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 80 dB. The typical power consumption is 180 mW, making it suitable for power-sensitive applications. The device also features an overrange indicator flag to indicate when the input exceeds the full-scale range.

The ADC is housed in a 28-pin SSOP package (28-SSOP, 0.209" width, 5.30 mm) with surface mount mounting. It operates over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The data interface is parallel CMOS/TTL. The ADS804E is pin-compatible with the ADS803 (5 MHz) and ADS805 (20 MHz) devices. Typical applications include IF and baseband digitization, CCD imaging, scanners, and test instrumentation.
