The ADS7953SDBTR is a 12-bit, 1 MSPS successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Texas Instruments. It features 16 single-ended input channels with a multiplexer, allowing for multichannel data acquisition. The ADC uses an SPI serial interface for communication with microcontrollers or DSPs. It requires an external reference and supports two software-selectable unipolar input ranges: 0 to VREF and 0 to 2*VREF.
The device operates from an analog supply voltage of 2.7V to 5.25V and a digital I/O supply of 1.7V to 5.25V, enabling low-power operation. Typical power consumption is 11.5 mW at 5V analog supply. The ADC achieves a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 71.7 dB. It includes features such as auto and manual channel selection, two programmable alarm levels per channel, and four individually configurable GPIOs in the TSSOP package. The input bandwidth is 47 MHz at 3 dB.
The ADS7953SDBTR is available in a 38-TFSOP (4.40mm width) package, also referred to as 38-TSSOP, and is surface mount compatible. It operates over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. This ADC is suitable for low-power, multiplexed data acquisition systems in industrial, instrumentation, and medical applications.
