The ADS7844NG4 is a 12-bit, 8-channel successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Texas Instruments. It features a maximum sample rate of 200 ksps and a synchronous SPI serial interface. The device can be configured for 8 single-ended or 4 differential inputs via an internal multiplexer. It operates from a single analog supply of 2.7V to 5.25V and a digital supply of 1.9V to 5.5V. The reference voltage can be varied from 100mV to VCC, allowing a flexible input voltage range of 0V to 5.25V.
Typical power consumption is 1.8 mW at 200 kHz throughput and 5V supply, with a shutdown mode reducing power to under 1 µW. The ADC offers excellent linearity with ±1 LSB max INL and DNL, and a typical SNR of 73.1 dB. The device is specified for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
The ADS7844NG4 is available in a 20-pin SSOP package (0.209", 5.30mm width) and is surface mount compatible. It is designed for applications such as data acquisition, test and measurement, industrial process control, personal digital assistants, and battery-powered systems. The part is also noted as an alternate source for the MAX147.
