ADS1250U Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The ADS1250U is a precision, wide dynamic range, delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with 20-bit resolution, operating from a single +5V supply. It is designed for high-resolution measurement applications and guarantees 20 bits of no missing code performance. The converter achieves an effective resolution of 18 bits (2.8ppm RMS noise) at conversion rates up to 25kHz. A low-noise programmable gain amplifier (PGA) with gain stages of 1, 2, 4, or 8 enhances dynamic range for low-level input signals.

The ADS1250U features a flexible synchronous serial interface (SPI) with a three-wire control mode for low-cost isolation. It accepts differential or single-ended inputs and requires an external voltage reference. The device is housed in a 16-SOIC (0.295", 7.50mm width) surface-mount package and operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.

Typical applications include cardiac diagnostics, smart transmitters, industrial process control, weigh scales, chromatography, and portable instrumentation. The ADC is available in tape and reel packaging with a standard quantity of 1,000 units (large T&R).
