The ADS1220IRVAT is a precision, low-power, 24-bit delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Texas Instruments. It offers a maximum sampling rate of 2 kSPS and supports up to four input channels configurable as two differential or four single-ended inputs. The device integrates a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) with gains from 1 to 128, an internal voltage reference with low drift, and a temperature sensor.
Designed for low-power applications, the ADS1220IRVAT consumes only 1.4 mW typical power and features a duty-cycle mode that reduces current consumption to as low as 120 µA. It operates from a wide supply range of 2.3 V to 5.5 V for both analog and digital supplies. The ADC includes dual-matched programmable current sources (IDACs) for sensor excitation, an internal oscillator, and a digital filter with simultaneous 50 Hz and 60 Hz rejection at 20 SPS.
The device is available in a compact 16-VQFN (3.5x3.5 mm) package with an exposed pad for thermal management. It is specified for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. The SPI-compatible interface allows easy connection to microcontrollers and digital signal processors.
