The ADM2491EBRWZ is a high-speed, ESD-protected, half-/full-duplex isolated RS-485 transceiver designed for multipoint transmission lines. It operates at data rates up to 16 Mbps and complies with ANSI TIA/EIA RS-485-A-1998 and ISO 8482: 1987(E) standards.
This transceiver features ±8 kV ESD protection on its RS-485 input/output pins and provides 5000 Vrms isolation voltage. It is suitable for 5 V or 3.3 V operation on the logic side (VDD1) and requires an isolated 5 V supply for the bus side. The device includes current-limiting and thermal shutdown protection for enhanced reliability.
With a high common-mode transient immunity of greater than 25 kV/µs and a fail-safe design for the receiver, the ADM2491EBRWZ is well-suited for demanding industrial environments. It is available in a wide body, 16-lead SOIC package, designed for surface mount applications.
